Learning by pleasure and enjoyment - the best way!
What is Creative Dance?
- Creative dance is a form of dance that provides the potential for personal expression. There is no right or wrong way of moving.
-One of the aims of creative dance is to communicate through movement by drawing inspiration from a range of external stimuli including music, props, emotions, images and other dancers.
What happens in a class?
Classes combine dance technique with the art of expression giving students tools to express their feelings through movement. Students develop dance skills, through traditional modern and ballet exercises, providing them with a strong foundation in dance technique. They develop creative skills as they are encouraged to explore the different qualities of movement. As they explore, they become aware of their different body parts and how they can move them, discover new ways of moving, create designs, and express feelings. Stories, relaxation techniques and somatic body awareness methods are integrated into the class to connect body, mind, and spirit.
What are the benefits?
-gaining confidence and self esteem,
-making discoveries about yourself, others and the world around you,
-learning to respect each other's unique style,
-learning problem solving skills, spontaneity, leadership
-developing creativity, developing good posture, balance and co-ordination,
-gaining physical strength and flexibility,
-learning co-operation working together in a group,
and last but not least... learning by pleasure and enjoyment, by far the best way to grow!
